  1. v2.1.0 Jun 2026 Current

    Sync, avatars & mobile polish

    • Pull on load. When you open or refresh the site while signed in, the latest cloud progress is fetched immediately before rendering. You always resume with the most up-to-date state across devices without needing to manually sync.
    • 12 custom SVG avatars. Jedi Knight, Sith Lord, Mandalorian, Clone Trooper, Rebel Pilot, Imperial Officer, Bounty Hunter, Astromech, Wookiee, Senator, Nightsister and Smuggler. Google profile photo is never shown anywhere.
    • Onboarding modal on first sign-in. Pick a callsign and avatar before hitting the site. Skippable and editable any time from the Account page.
    • Burger menu now fully opaque. The drawer background was semi-transparent making it hard to read items over the page content below.
    • Force Push / Pull buttons added to the Account page for instant manual sync in either direction.
    • Background sync every 2 minutes quietly checks for newer cloud progress while you’re actively using the site.
    • Last sync timestamp now shows date and time, not just date.
    • Mobile horizontal scroll fixed. Series-switch separator labels (e.g. Short — “The Machine in the Ghost”) were overflowing the viewport on narrow screens. All labels now wrap correctly.
    • Mobile nav overlap fixed. Sign In button and user chip moved into the burger drawer on small screens, keeping the top bar clean.
    • Cookie banner visible on mobile without needing to scroll. Renamed “Decline” to “Dismiss” to better reflect that browser storage is essential for the site to function.
    • FAQ trimmed. Removed tracking and data-collection questions. Privacy details live in the Privacy and Cookie policies linked from the footer.
    • Auth timing race fixed. Sign-in state no longer flickers on refresh. Firebase module now dispatches a gh:ready event so the auth listener is always identified before Firebase resolves the session.
    • Page titles update on navigation — browser tab reflects the current section.
    • Changelog added to burger menu so it’s reachable on mobile.
  2. v2.0.0 Jun 2026

Cloud saves, accounts, avatars & polish

    • Google Sign-In. Completely optional — sign in with Google to save progress to the cloud across devices. Existing localStorage progress migrates automatically on first sign-in.
    • Cloud sync via Firebase Firestore. Watching progress, Clone Register, achievements and UI state sync automatically. Progress is pulled from the cloud on every page load so you always resume with the latest state across devices.
    • Force Push / Pull on the Account page. Manually push your local state to cloud or pull the latest cloud state to your device instantly — no waiting for the background sync.
    • Background sync every 2 minutes. While you’re signed in, the site silently checks for newer cloud progress and applies it automatically.
    • Merge dialog. If you sign in on a device that already has local progress and a different cloud save exists, you choose which to keep.
    • Custom avatars. 12 Star Wars-themed SVG avatars to choose from — Jedi, Sith, Mandalorian, Clone Trooper, Rebel Pilot, Imperial Officer, Bounty Hunter, Astromech, Wookiee, Senator, Nightsister, and Smuggler. Google profile photo is never used.
    • Onboarding flow. First-time sign-in shows a “Choose Your Identity” modal to pick a callsign and avatar before hitting the site.
    • Account page. Set a callsign, pick an avatar, view progress stats, see last sync time, force push/pull, and delete your account.
    • Clean URLs. Navigation now uses proper paths (/clones, /account, /changelog etc.) instead of hash fragments.
    • About page. “Why I Built This” moved to its own dedicated section.
    • Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy added — accessible from the footer and cookie banner.
    • Cookie consent banner. Compact, always visible above the fold on mobile. Explains localStorage and optional Firebase usage.
    • Mobile nav reworked. Auth (Sign In / user chip) moved into the burger drawer on small screens to prevent nav bar overlap. Burger menu background made fully opaque.
    • Fixed mobile horizontal scroll. Series-switch separator labels (e.g. Short — “The Machine in the Ghost”) were overflowing the viewport on narrow screens. All labels now wrap correctly.
    • FAQ trimmed. Removed tracking and data-collection questions that belong in the Privacy Policy, not the FAQ.
  3. v1.8.0 Jun 2026

    Codex

    • The Kaminoan Codex launched. A new mini-game section — enter clone names as you hear them while watching, no hints and no autocomplete. Each discovery reveals the clone's rank, unit, status, bio, and a Wookieepedia link.
    • 145 canon clones seeded across TCW, The Bad Batch, Rebels, ROTS, and Obi-Wan Kenobi — from Rex and Cody to Shadow Squadron pilots, Delta Squad commandos, clone cadets, the Clone Underground, and Imperial-era clones like Mayday, Wilco, and the CX assassins.
    • 15 Kaminoan Codex achievements including Domino Squad, Torrent Company, Wolfpack, Ghost Company, Bad Batch, Shadow Squadron, Delta Squad, Clone Underground, Good Soldiers Follow Orders, and Full Muster.
    • Kaminoan Codex hero banner with Republic military styling separates the section visually from the site header.
    • Kaminoan Codex added to the top navigation alongside Archive for quick access.
    • TOTU Eps 1–3 added to Hardcore. The Ventress arc (A Way Forward, Friends, One Warrior to Another) was missing from the Hardcore sequence — now correctly placed between Bad Batch S2E8 and S2E9.
  4. v1.7.0 Jun 2026

Tales of the Empire, canon additions & data fixes

    • Tales of the Empire added in full. All 6 episodes slotted into their correct canonical positions — Ep 1 after TCW S4E22, Eps 4–5 after TCW S7E12, Ep 6 after Tales of the Jedi Ep 6, Ep 2 after Rebels S2E20, and Ep 3 between Mandalorian S2E4 and S2E5.
    • The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026 film) added as a placeholder entry after Mandalorian Season 3.
    • Rebels pre-season shorts added. The four micro-shorts released before Season 1 — The Machine in the Ghost, Art Attack, Entanglement, and Property of Ezra Bridger — now appear in Hardcore before S1E1.
    • Fixed Tales of the Underworld Ep 6 ID typo. totu-e6 was incorrectly assigned the ID totu-e4, causing Ep 4 and Ep 6 to tick together in Hardcore. Resolved.
    • Fixed duplicate TOTU Eps 4–6. The Qui-Gon arc episodes were incorrectly appearing a second time at 19 BBY alongside the Ventress arc. Removed.
  5. v1.6.0 20 Apr 2026

Crimson Dawn era & polish pass

    • Added Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord. New Disney+ animated series (Apr–May 2026). All 10 episodes slotted into Reign of the Empire between Bad Batch Season 3 and Solo, with a series intro pause note in Hardcore.
    • Fixed BBY date display. Leading tildes (~) on approximate years were rendering like minus signs in the display font. Stripped the tilde from 100+ single-year dates so they read as plain 232 BBY, 9 BBY, etc. Genuine ranges like 19–9 BBY keep their en-dash.
    • Stacked the Spoiler-Free and Films Only toggles into a vertical switch column for a cleaner toolbar.
  6. v1.5.0 Apr 2026

    New viewing modes & filters

    • Machete Order mode. Rod Hilton's 2011 proposal — IV, V, II, III, VI, with Episode I deliberately skipped. Spoiler-free copy kicks in automatically when the switch is on.
    • Films Only filter. Chronological and Release Order modes can now hide every TV series and show only the 12 canonical films. Stats and time-left update to match the filtered set.
    • Runtime totals fixed for Chronological / Release — season-aggregate IDs now expand correctly, so the total matches Hardcore.
  7. v1.4.0 Apr 2026

    Hardcore mode rework

    • Clone Wars episodes split into individual cards. Canonical order jumps around too much to group — every TCW episode is now its own entry with a gold "Jump" callout when the order leaps between seasons.
    • Bad Batch & Rebels seasons grouped into runs. Contiguous-order runs collapse into a dropdown (e.g. "Bad Batch — Season 1 · Ep 1–15"); any out-of-order jump starts a new group.
    • Fixed the FILM badge overflowing its card on narrow screens.
    • Spoiler-Free mode now keeps episode titles and numbers visible — only descriptions, era synopses and pause notes are hidden.
    • Spoiler-Free converted from a button to a slider switch with first-launch tip.
    • Achievements expanded to 33 total — added Machete Runner, watchtime milestones (24h / 100h / all), and per-series completion badges.
  8. v1.3.0 Mar 2026

    Achievements, spoilers & new shows

    • Achievements page. 30+ unlockable badges — trilogy completion, era completion, mode discovery, first-watch, Navigator (open a planet), Explorer (open a non-archive page), and more.
    • Spoiler-Free mode. Hides era dates and pause-note plot details for first-time viewers. Defaults ON; persists per browser.
    • Young Jedi Adventures added in full (all 118 episodes as an expandable dropdown).
    • Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Underworld added to the High Republic / Reign of the Empire eras.
    • Wookieepedia link added to every entry and hardcore item, next to the IMDb link.
  9. v1.2.0 Feb 2026

    Galaxy Map & Release Order

    • Galaxy Map view (work in progress). Concentric-ring layout of canonical galactic regions, with planet search, region filter, and on-screen / extended-media toggles.
    • Release Order mode added alongside Chronological — groups entries by decade of release.
    • Watchtime estimates. Every entry and the totals bar now show total runtime and time-left.
    • Per-era colour theming across the archive header and children rows.
  10. v1.1.0 Jan 2026

    Hardcore mode

    • Hardcore viewing order. Arc-level sequence with the brutal interlocks called out — Siege of Mandalore / Revenge of the Sith, Bad Batch / Rebels overlap, the lot.
    • Pause-note system introduced to flag crossovers, context switches, and when to swap feeds.
    • Per-episode progress checkboxes under every series dropdown.
  11. v1.0.0 Jan 2026

    Initial launch

    • The Galactic Holocron goes live — chronological archive of every canon Star Wars film and live-action / animated TV series.
    • Six era sections across the saga, from the High Republic to Rise of the First Order.

Why I Built This

I've always wanted a single place where I could work through the entire Star Wars saga in proper order — films, live-action shows, and every animated episode woven in exactly where they belong. Most lists get you part of the way there, but the Clone Wars arc-level ordering, the Bad Batch overlap with Rebels, and the brutal interlock between Siege of Mandalore and Revenge of the Sith kept tripping me up.

So I built The Galactic Holocron. Standard mode is the clean chronological run most people will want. Hardcore mode is the deep-cut viewing order — arc-level, with the pause points and overlaps called out so you know exactly when to switch feeds. The Kaminoan Codex is a niche little game for tracking every named clone you spot while watching. Progress saves locally by default, or to the cloud if you sign in with Google.

If it's useful to you, come say hi on Discord. Feedback, corrections, and arguments about episode order all welcome. May the Force be with you.
